Dr. Mehmet Refii Kileci is in 1962 in Istanbul geboren.
Al op jonge leeftijd ontwikkelde hij een voorkeur voor de
traditioneel Turkse en Islamitische kunsten, met name het
gebied van de Ebru- en Kalligrafiekunst. De Ebru kunst (ook
wel bekend als de kunst van het marmeren papier) heeft hij
vanaf 1978 geleerd van de beroemde Ebru kunstenaars Niyazi
Sayin en Mustafa Duzgunman. Tussen 1975 en 1980 werd hij
onderwezen in de schriftkunst door een van de belangrijkste
Kalligrafie- en schriftkunstenaars van de vorige eeuw Hamid
Aytag (1893-1982). Sinds 2000 werkt de heer Kileci als
docent aan de Islamitische Universiteit in Rotterdam (IUR).
Hij geeft les in de koranwetenschappen , Ebru en Kalligrafie
vakken. Binnen het Roemi Kunsten Centrum (onderdeel van de
IUR) voert hij diverse kunst projecten uit. Door middel van
exposities en live demonstraties zet hij zich in voor de
verspreiding van de Ebru- en Kalligrafiekunst.
